Costantino Mastroprimiano

Costantino Mastroprimiano is a master pianist on the historical piano. He plays on either historical instruments or on modern copies of those. This allows him to perform the music on the type of instrument for which it was created. The use of historical pianos makes it possible to express directly what the composer wrote down.

Each instrument is unique and has its own characteristics in terms of finesses in the playing mechanism and sound quality. This depends on the period in which it was build and on how it survived through time. The pianist has to adapt to each instrument. The instrument determines the repertoire that can best be played on it.
